How Major League Baseball leaves Minor League players behind

Giving players a voice

More Than Baseball's 2022 Player Issue Report shares the results from a series of player surveys conducted with over 800 minor leaguers over the last three years. These surveys focused on working conditions in minor league baseball. For the first time in the sport's history, players were asked to share the challenges they face and set priorities for changing the sport.

Key findings include:

  • 83% of players said increased salary was the change they'd most like to see in minor league baseball.

  • More than half of players do not think their organization has their best interest in mind.

  • Over half of minor league players surveyed had to take a second job in the offseason.
